Sokolin Vladimir Leonidovitch  

Chairman of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States

Sokolin Vladimir Leonidovitch was born on 22 March 1949 in Moscow. 

In 1971 graduated from Moscow Institute of Economics and Statistics.  Since 1989 to 1992 has been working as a Deputy Chief of the Department of  Statistics of Economic Indicators, Finances and Prices; Deputy Chief  of the Department of  Macroeconomic Financial Statistics of the  State Committee of the USSR on Statistics. Since 1992 to 1993  was holding the leading posts in the Centre of Economic  Conjuncture under the Government of the Russian Federation. 

In 1993 was appointed to the post of  the Deputy Chairman of  Goskomstat of  Russia. Since July 1998 was acting Chairman of Goskomstat of Russia.

In July 1999 was appointed to the post of Director-General of  the  Statistical Agency of Russia. Since March 2000 was the Chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation on Statistics.

In March 2004 was appointed to the post of  the Head of  the Federal State Statistics Service.

Was carrying out the leadership and control  of  the preparation and conduct of the All-Russia population census of 2002. 

In January 2001 was appointed as a member of  the Collegium Board of the Ministry of  Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Mr. Vladimir Sokolin is a member of the International Statistical Institute.

In accordance with the Decision of the Council of Heads of  Governments  of the CIS  dated 16 November 2009 was appointed to the post of  the Chairman of Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS.
