The abstract contains most important indicators covering a wide range of socio-economic statistics characterizing the development of the countries of the European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States and giving the basis for their comparative analysis and cooperation between the both regions in the field of economic and social development.  The publication was jointly produced by Eurostat and by the Interstate statistical Committee of the CIS on the basis of data from the two organizations. The statistical information is presented in such a way that it makes it possible to compare the both regions on such indicators as population and labour market, living standards, economy and finance, agriculture, industry and services, energy, international trade, etc. The statistical tables and graphs are accompanied by brief descriptive texts and methodological notes.
